IIQ 8.5 was released on July 15, 2025!

Instrumental Identity architects have already downloaded the new IIQ 8.5 software package, installed it on our sandbox and demo servers, poked it, prodded it, and analyzed the compatibility of our software. Here’s what we’ve found.

✅ UI Enhancer: Completely compatible with IIQ 8.5! I will be adding support for the new built-in Identity Attribute restrictions to the UI Enhancer in its next release.

✅ History Plugin: Completely compatible with IIQ 8.5!

✅ Rule Runner Plugin: IIQ 8.5 upgrades the included version of CodeMirror (the actual in-browser code editor) from 4.3 to 5.65.16. This is a welcome change, as CM 4.3 is nearly twelve years old! However, it requires some changes in the Rule Runner plugin code. For now, the Rule Runner plugin will ship with its own copy of CodeMirror 4.3. We will spend some time in the next few weeks upgrading it to a newer version of CodeMirror.

⚠️ Query Plugin: This plugin uses a very similar user interface to the Rule Runner, so has a similar problem with the upgraded CodeMirror library. We will update it to work with 8.5 within the next few weeks.

✅ IIQCommon (iiq-common-public, iiq-common-full, and iiq-common-attrsync): Required some minor modifications for IIQ 8.5, but these changes have been tested and are available as needed. The changes were Hibernate-related.
